CLASS PROJECTS:

-

2006-07 Class XVIIMeals on Wheels
As the fourteen of us debated on a project in November that would truly make a difference in Door County we came to a unanimous decision after touring the Senior Center to help to expand their Meals on Wheels program. At the time only those seniors living in the city of Sturgeon Bay were eligible to receive meals. Considering Door County is much more spread out, we knew there were elderly people in the rural areas not having even one or two nutritious meals a week. After talking with JoAnn Schley and Bev Knutson the need was way greater than even we imagined.

2005-06 Class XVI. A Safe Place to Play for everyBODY
A collaborative effort made up of parents, PTO members, educators and community leaders who saw an opportunity to make improvements to a playground that will make it safer, cleaner, more durable and more beneficial to the kids. In the process, we get the added benefit of providing a play area that improves accessibility to those with disabilities.

2004-05 Class XVPreventing Suicide: Keeping our Community Healthy and Safe.

2003-04 Class XIV FUNDRAISING EVENT AT CROSSROADS AT BIG CREEK. "Fun-a-loop-sa" a family event at Crossroads at Big Creek was held  May 15, 2004.  The event raised $1,155.53. Coggin Heeringa, the director of Crossroads has indicated that the money raised will be used to defer the costs associated for use of facilities, allowing non-profit organizations to use their meeting space free of charge. The first group to benefit from this was the Discussion Forum by area human service agencies that was held at Crossroads in June. This forum resulted from Governor Doyle's Call to Action to end Child Abuse & Neglect in Wisconsin.
